I am surprised to see how many people are suffering for the same issue across different printer models. I was just curious about the matte photo trick and was surprised when it worked. I would appreciate your assistance in helping me solve this problem. First you should try and isolate where the problem is before you think about taking it apart. I found that, indeed, the tiny hose was plugged with dried ink at the end where the waste ink normally drips into the waste ink blotter. It is about 5 yrs old, and all the colors work fine. I am curious id either can direct me to anything available online before i make a purchase.

Wow thank goodness for this thread. OK I have sent you the email. Also when printing out the nozzle check report, it doesn’t print the middle section of the grid for the PGBK. On the General tab, select Printing Preferences toward the bottom of the page, and check the Grayscale Printing box.
Black Ink Version of the Canon Pixma MP? – Forums – CNET
Thanks for posting your excellent results. I bought the service manual from Bulgaria but it does not go beyond removing the covers. If I click on black ink only it used black in only.
Please include your printer model number and define the problems in that note. I have removed the head and blak with q-tips, but no joy.
Canon MP530 won’t print black
Once you get a perfect test then you know you are ready to print whatever you want. However, now that you have mp350 it once, you won’t mind doing it again. After doing some research, I finally decided to clean the print head by soaking it in warm water. I found that, indeed, the tiny hose was plugged with dried ink at the end where the waste ink normally drips into the waste ink blotter.
Almost immediately after replacing cajon Cyan and Magenta cartridges, those two colors stopped printing completely, not even so much as a smudge. I am interesred in the challange of np530 dissasembly, but is the cost worth it.
I have spent a lot of time trying to clean the print head and have looked into the purge pad solution, but before I proceed, I would really appreciate your secret information and help. My MP has not been printing for a long time, Ive got everything from canon to do the fix per Triggers adviceBut unfortunately a long term illness in mpp530 family and the care of that person supersedes fixing the printer.

Appreciate any help you can provide. If the other colors ran out, it was because I used them. The repair manuals I provide also come with the Canon Service Manual, which provides a lot of information but does not go any farther than taking the unit apart.
I have a MP I won’t come back to read your posts again. The smudging occurs when feeding paper from either feed tray.
I have the MP and i feel like ive had it for some five years and have been super pleased with it and want it to continue working for me if possible.
Would you please send the service Manual for Canon printer? Mp503 Forum moderator July 19, 9: I got your email and I have sent you the response and the information you need.
Thx to this Trigger person and unending patience. It also helps to know just how to lback the printer once you do have it apart so that you will KNOW it will work when you put it back together.
Need to verify the cause.
The normal process of printing creates a vacuum such that for every drop of ink that is ejected, another drop is “Sucked” via vacuum out of the ink cart and down into the head to replace that last drop.
Could you help me with it, please? Once a printer is out of warranty Canon does not want you to fix it yourself. Double check that you took the tape of the back of the ink cart.
Like many folks in this multi-year string, my printer no longer print black. What you are suggesting is just not that simple.
