I downloaded a free lighting program called “Freestyler” on to my lap top and purchased a DMX to usb interface for it.
Lightjams automatically detects other ArtNET nodes at startup. This is handy to send ArtNET to a custom made application or to override the information a node is automatically sending. However, if you want true freedom of placement also note that some ‘wireless’ lights still require a power supply cable.

I think it is awesome. When you open the app on either your iphone or ipad it ask you for the ip address you want to connect to. I only use wireless between control and stage. The viewer at the left lets you see DMX values in realtime and easily choose the value you want. My hope is to establish a connection with this setup, and then swap the computer for the iPad. Just click a value to select it.
The MagicQ manual doesn’t specify how to set this properly. I think it may be what your looking for.

ArtNET – DMX Over Ethernet Network and WIFI
They take a little messing around to configure but still work fairly well. We recently were able to connect and control our lights from DMX Workshop, an application running on a Windows 7 64bit connected directly to the fixture through a standard ethernet cord.
